Customer Called After Cake Pick-Up, Birthday Girl Is Sick And The Party Is Canceled, What To Do With The Cake?

Hello all,
This is a repeat customer that I have a good relationship with. Within 2 hours of picking up the cake she called to tell me her daughter was sick, the party is canceled, and she wanted to know if there is any way to save the cake for another day.
Here is a picture of the cake.
It's a 12" round made up of 4 layers of cake/3 of raspberry sleeve filling, covered in ABC with marshmallow fondant and buttercream accents. I told her to remove the gumpaste figures and put the cake in the freezer for 20-30 minutes until firm, then cover in 2 layers of saran wrap and put back in the freezer until the day she's ready to serve it. She did not have enough room to wrap the cake in the box, which I know would have been preferable. My question is, how should she defrost it? Should she leave the Saran Wrap on and let the condensation evaporate before taking it off, or should she unwrap it right away & just let the condensation collect and dry. I've had issues with condensation and my buttercream, so this is making me very nervous. I explained I can't promise the quality won't be somewhat compromised, but she was just thrilled she didn't have to eat a 12" cake today! I feel awful for the little girl though and really want the cake to still look good for her.

i have a completely different take on this-- i would unwrap it immediately and brush off the ice crystals before they can melt and plunk it in the fridge over night-- in the fridge that has no random smells of fish or garlic or strawberries etc.
but mom could always sprinkle a little powdered sugar (through a sieve) on the top if necessary to hide any discoloration--before replacing the cute figurines & all of course --
