My kitchen and living room are full of cake and candy stuff. I started out with one shelf. Now most of my character pans are hanging on the kitchen wall. Cake mixes chocolate and food stuff is in the very top of the pantry. Then all my decorating things (bags, colors, etc) migrated to their own cabnint in the kitchen. Now all my cakes boxes, candy containers, etc live in my living room.
And now I'm starting to get stocked up for the holidays. I'm running out of room!!! icon_mad.gif
Where do you all find space to put everything? Or are your houses over run with stuff too?

yep.... that was me ...so I had My husband build me some shelves over my washer and those filled up. So then he made me a walk in pantry. Which was 3xs the room that i needed so he said " that should be more then enough room. Wrong....right now its just full enough....

I have those plastic containers that are clear with differnt color tops...showbox containers i think is what they called. Well I have those for seperating everything you know one for each proup of items- food colorings, supports, fondant supplies, gum paste, tips, cake toppers, cookie cutters seperated by season....easter, christmas, valentines, fall, animals, misc. my 3d pans are hanging every where theres room in there Since space is problem I have to stop buying them until I actually need them ( which is so hard walmart had a scooby do pan for $3.00 yesterday and I cant belive I passed it up)

thats my attempt to get things under control...
I wonder what every one else does....

Well, my DH built me a shed in the back garden. We upgraded the kitchen appliances including a new fridge. I wanted to put the old fridge in the garage for my cakes; he wanted to discard it. After telling him I did not want to discard a perfectly working fridge, we compromised as he wouldn't let me put it in 'his' garage. The compromise was I got a new shed (he built it from scratch, not a kit). That's going to be so full of all my stuff, he isn't going to be able to encroach on my space, and I won't need 'his' garage space! icon_biggrin.gif

I have all my stuff behind the bar area in the basement. When I first started putting it there I was overwhelmed at the space but it's filling up quickly. Thank God it's not too full yet because I won't know what to do in that situation!!!

Wow, you sure seem to have a lot of stuff... I have a nice big pantry in my kitchen so all my pans are on the top shelf... I occupied also some shelf space in my kitchen cabinets for fondant stuff I have made and need for later like flowers, characters, etc., colors, tips, and general decorating tools are also in the kitchen cabinet shelf. I don't have cake boxes stocked up. I buy them as I need them.

It would be nice if I could have a whole are just for my cake deco stuff...

how funny! lets see, i have stuff stacked in my kitchen, in my enclosed back porch, in the shed(the stuff i dont use often) and some stuff in my basement in a storage area. my advice, which i learned way too late, is to stop buying the character pans! since we can all do (or learn how to do on CC) frozen buttercream transfers. we can make any character we need and wont have to use up all our space with the character pans. i have some of those, and dont use them any more.

You know, I have been running out of room but I'm going to be so spoiled soon! We just bought a new house and it's like it was MADE for all my cake stuff! The pantry is huge and the area under the stairs is actually the extended part of the pantry!! It is so cool. DH is going to put me some shelving up so I'm SOO excited! I know how you feel about running out of room. Right now I have one shelf and several of the plastic drawers and tubs.

The trunk of my car! I completely ran out of room in "my husband's" kitchen - so I keep big plastic bins full of mixes and bags of powdered sugar in my trunk. I'm always stepping outside out for supplies..

Okay I am just starting out so there is not much that I have until.....
I posted a message on free cycle and I met up with a home based baker that wants to down grade. I just came from her home and she gave me about 30 diffrent character pans a 5 tier set of square pans a ton of wedding items a 3 tier metal cake stand(the floating one),a 4 tier set of heart shaped pans and much more. I bet all the stuff that she gave me equals to about $800.00 or so.
In her basment she had a peg board hanging and that is where she hung all of her charater pans becuase they have holes at the top.
This is a great way to keep all of your pans organized so that they do not get damaged. I have to say that I hit the JACKPOT!!!!!!
I was going to slowly buy things so that I can make wedding cakes but thanks to her I can start now.. I love this site you all have inspired me to take on bigger task then just the star tip cakes. I know that I will use all that she gave me. I am kinda shy to post my cakes because of all the great one that are on here everyday. I am becoming a addict. Thanks to all of you Fawn Strunk

I suggest buying a tool organizer. I got mine from Walmart after my friends who own the cake store got one. It is plastic with lots of drawers large & small. It only costs $7 at Walmart! My best investment so far (oops, Sorry to my KA... your the best investment so far!! icon_biggrin.gif ) I store all my tips (even the icer tip fits), couplers, gluegun & glue, dowels for making roses, wax paper squares to make flowers, glitter, luster dust & the list goes on & on! You wouldn't believe the stuff you can put in them.

We have a 4 bedroom house (got it 3 years ago) with a linen closet in every bathrm & 1 extra one in the hallway to the bedrooms. That's where I keep my cake boards, stuff for weddings, flowers, & much more. I use every bottom cabinet in the kitchen & 1 cabinet up high is only for cake stuff. The one up high has my coloring, fondant, fondant paint, flavorings (my uncle works for Adams flavoring here in town, he keeps me stocked up!), Oh, I also keep my face mask (the one I always forget to put on icon_sad.gif ) in there too.

Britt my buddy, I would love to have a storage bldg in the back yard!! That or a shop in town would be marvelous!!! That way I could go & do my cake thing & have plenty of room! It's a dream!!! icon_smile.gif I hope one day it will come true!

Storage is such a problem where I live. It's a tiny apartment. I've thrown out so much stuff when we moved in.

My pantry is the size of a tiny linen closet in a bathroom. So I have a 3 drawer storage cart in there, and next to that are plastic bins with my stuff in. Mind you the entire closet is 3 feet wide, tops. My pans are in a tiny cupboard over the stove.

I really want to move. The place isn't cheap either. We're paying for the location. But we want to buy a house in a couple years so I'm not sure it's worth the pain of moving twice. icon_confused.gif

I am not quite an organizer, but i guess i have my cake stuff pretty organized.
I bought a plastic pull out cabinet with 4 cabins. its just 4 feet tall and 18'x18'. (i prefer pull out cause it gives you access to the entire cabin).
I have my ingredients in the top most drawer and a small open box to keep the small boxes of ingredients, baking pwd, essence, etc..just one of each.... (I keep the ingredients in the first cabin so when i go grocery shopping i just view this box to check on what i need to buy). In the second box i have most frequently used baking equipments, includes my mixing bowls, measuring cups, spoons, spatula, pallete knife, etc..... The third box consist of boards, wax paper, and another small organizer with four drawers that takes care of the tips, nozzles, cutters, piping bags, colours, stamens, florist tape, ribbons, etc... the usual decorating stuff... When i start with decorating the cake i just pull out the small organizer and place it on the table so i have everything close. The fourth and last cabin has the trays, pans, racks, of course here i am running out of space so some of the trays, pans that dont fit in here go into the space under the oven.
Actually i dont have much stuff, just the basic requirements, so as of now i am pretty organized, but later i will require much more space.

If you love something you will take care of it. ......

Well, let's see! I have about five boxes in the garage of cake pans that I don't even use and wedding supply items I don't even use. I have pans that I use regularly in my laundry room stacked on a table I put in there for folding clothes (yeah right!) My walk-in pantry has one tiny little nook that I wedged two stackable narrow shelving units in and that's over run with supplies. Above that is a wire rack with about 30-40 (never really counted) books, magazines, etc....AND on the floor beside that sits metal tins that I have royal flowers in, and my two loaded Wilton red "tool" boxes! Believe it or not there is still room to step in the pantry and close the door. My husband is very tolerant. I suppose the first time he opens the pantry and my "cake decorating cr@p" falls out, I'll be in a bit of trouble.

I live in a small apartment with three kids and the DH, so storage room is at a premium here. However, since we are the residential managers, I have access to a storage room that is approximately 8 feet by 20 feet and can use some of that storage space. I have two 4 shelf shelving units that I use for pans and what not there, I have a small cupboard in my kitchen with all of my baking ingredients. Oh, and counter space is EXTREMELY precious!

Right now we are talking about moving to Oregon or Washington in a few years (gotta save that money!), and I told my hubby that I want to buy a duplex so I can have my own baking kitchen.
