i do 2 hours before the reception--unless it's got cream cheese in some form then it's like 30 mins before--and they know all this in advance -- to not get freaked about the last minute delivery due to food safety issues --

i'd caution her about all that could happen in 9 hours but if she insisted i'd do it--and she would understand that it's her risk-- my responsibility ends when i leave the venue -- would make me nervous though but oh well

That cake will be heavy when all assembled.  Will you be able to carry and transport it fully assembled?

No way, 9 hours!

Customers have always crazy requests, it's your job tell them what they can o can't have! a cake 9 hrs before the event.. it's not going to happen!

AI already told them no to 9hrs unless she was willing to sign waiver releasing me from all responsibility. I know it's my job to tell them & I have. My question was how far before event do you deliver? I was planning on two hours before....so as not to be rushed.

Sorry I didnt mean to be rude!

It's just sometimes customers can drive you crazy..

I think 2hrs is ok, but mostly depends on the cake, fondant or buttercream, if you just need to delivery or work on it..

anyways, since i guess the bride is your customer, I would talk to her and see what happens..

I setup about 2 hours before an event but I think we tend to use different fillings in the UK which are less refrigeration-concious.  Atleast I do anyway!!  Did she say why she wanted it setting up so early???  I'm really curious.  Maybe also mention that having a cake set up when people are moving stuff about is never a good thing...I nearly had a cake impaled by a chair once so try to be the last person to set up!  :-)

Who is your customer, the stop mom or the bride?

9 hours early? Will the bride and family be ready? I hope there aren't any little kids - can you imagine what they'd look like being dressed and primped 9 hours in advance of the ceremony:-D

AOh my customer is the very young overwhelmed bride. Problem is MIL, step Mom and every one and there brothers wants to have a say. Bride is not great about returning messages or calls.....I'm sure it will all work out but I WILL NOT deliver 9 hrs or 5 hrs early(that was MIL's idea). It's all paid for so at least that's a plus. :D:D

Just let the bride know when you will be delivering it.  No return call required.  She may actually appreciate you being firm about it so she doesn't have to make further decisions on at least the cake.  The others can just chat amongst themselves and ask for whatever they want.  If  they call you just say that the order and delivery has been confirmed with the bride and be done with it.
