I used Amerigel Ivory to color gumpaste, and it has a slight reddish tint.  When I colored fondant a bit darker to cover my cake board, it was quite reddish.  I added a bit of wilton brown, but not much help.

It's OK for the board, but what color should I use to tint my fondant for an ivory cake?  I need it to be about the color of SMBC with vanilla.

Thanks for any help!

i always liked the wilton ivory color--i despise those dang freaking toothpicks you have to use to scoop it out but it's worth it it guess for that nice ivory--

you could use a dab of already colored brown fondant too--

Maybe I will take a(nother) quick run to Michaels for the ivory.  Or try coloring some darker brown, then use with white to get the ivory.  I just hope the Wilton doesn't have that reddish cast.

Thank you!

wilton ivory color is awesome-- unless they changed it-- i mean figure if i'm willing to use those seriously annoying toothpicks to get to it--

and now i'm worried about having advised for you to use the brown thing because some browns do have a red cast to it-- so be careful-- i was actually thinking about using cocoa--but then you might need to up the fat content--add a drop or two of oil or shortening--

i'd get the wilton's

Just got back from Michaels.  Thank goodness they are close- and my Wilton teacher was there finishing up a class (I took lessons from her in 2008!)

The ivory is perfect- and she enforced to only use a very tiny dab.  Thank you for the suggestion!  I guess I'll use the others for skin  one of these days!  I tried mixing a tiny bit with more white, and got a great skin tone!

isn't it awesome-- i learned to love it against my better judgement because it's wilton (and the dreaded toothpick thing) :-D

3 Tiers covered with the perfect shade of ivory!  and recovered the 20" board!  Now to start cutting and ruffling the frills....think I will sleep a bit first!

Thank you, K8memphis, for your help with the icing color.  I posted the finished project in the Friday Night Cake Club thread.

you're very welcome-- your cake is stunning -- the ruffling is amazing and the little leaves acting like leaves twirling over the edges here and there is so nonchalant and adorable
