Hi,

The world cup has not yet started and the first cakes are already being made. I need to make one for the opening England game next week, but am struggling to find any world cup related cake ribbon (MUST BE 15 or 16mm WIDE) to go around the cake drum. Can anybody point me in the direction of a supplier. Thank you.

Many thanks for your reply, but even Mr Google couldn't help me - nor could my regular cake shop supplier. Apparently it wouldn't be worth the while to make one at 15mm for cake boards here in England, as we may not be in the tournament for long enough to warrant it. I found a 25mm world cup ribbon, but that's no use. Instead , I have printed on gloss paper a world cup logo side by side , enough times  to go around the cake and cut it out to the correct size, then stuck it on the side of the drum with double sided sticky tape. Job done !

Well done you, necessity is the mother of invention. Couldn't you stitch of "fix" different colours together to make the ribbon?

Good luck in the tournament anyway from Scotland.......and believe it or not I mean that lol!!!!!!

That's what I was going to suggest. I did the same thing for a Zumba ribbon for a cupcake stand.

AMany thanks for your replies - the cake was a success and the World Cup ribbon of 25mm went around the cake ball stand instead as it was too wide to go on the cake drum. Hope you like it. Ps. As predicted my home nation England are out of the World Cup so maybe our USA friends may continue to enjoy this cake.
