Hi everyone.  I'm just putting in my online order for a set of hydrangea cutters for some upcoming cakes and trying to make the decision as to which one to buy....there are soooooo many!  I know how to do it, just haven't got the kit.  I want something very realistic so so have been looking at the veining mats but they are rather pricey :-s  Has anyone used the blossom sugar art ones?  Do they work with very thin flowerpaste?  The only ones i've seen have come out quite chunky... I'd appreciate any recommendations :-)

They would cut thin gumpaste or fondant, but might not "capture" the built in veiner.

I prefer that the petals are equal size and are pointed at the end.

AHi Masie - do you mean that you got the plunger ones that some of the other postees have linked to or the blossom sugar art ones? Sorry for being thick but want to make sure I get the right one!! I can find the UK thread but when you click it, it opens on page 1...and think there are over 8000 posts now!!

ANo I have the blossom art one. Go to the bottom of page one and there should be an arrow to click on "last". It'll take you a while to scroll through all the photos but if you just post and ask nannycook (or pm her?) I'm sure she'll show you. In fact you don't even have to go to the last page to post, you can type a reply at the bottom of every page. Well, on a phone or tablet you can, not sure about on a computer.

AThanks both, that cake is a beauty, Nannycake :-) The Blossom Sugar Art set certainly makes beautiful flowers but do you think that it would make wired ones? As opposed to the ones which are stuck directly onto the cake?

ANot sure snowflake, theres bound to be a way to wire them though, unless you do the Mexican hat method, cut out the flower and also cut it out on the mexican hat to, abit of a faff though.

thanks everyone...I'll investigate.  I guess using the Mexican hat would work but you're right, serious faff!!  I'll probably have a crack with the plunger ones first as I know I can wire them and then treat myself to the blossom art set come my next birthday or something ;-) xx
