Hello, Newbie here! and I really need some help!
I have a small fondant cake business in El Salvador, Central america...! (so you can have an idea where I'm from) , and I've been asked to do a wedding cake for the brother of my sister in law.
I don't normally do wedding cakes, just small cakes, with figures, and stuff like that, so I don't really have experience in this area, neither with stacked cakes.
The groom and bride sent us the cake design they want, is the same as that picture (luckily they didn't choose a really hard one!) , but I do have some questions.
How do you make that type of lace? Is it just fondant with a print texture (kinda like a stamp) or sugar paste, o gum paste? or is it a mold??
If it's a mold , does anyone have an idea, where can I get the same one, or a similar one?
How can I make roses like that?? or what kind of roses are those? How do you make them?
I am asking all of these , because the couple said that they want the cake the exact s
Hi there, that's a nice cake and you will be able to do it. If you go to the very top of the page you will find the search bar. Type in "stacking cakes" and there are videos and tutorials. All the info about rose making, molds and ribbons is on here. Just focus on one bit at a time. You seem to know about baking so start with stacking and dowelling. Good luck.
I'm pretty sure you can just purchase gumpaste flowers online & have them shipped to you... I'm not sure which sites would ship to your country, but it might be worth it for you to take a look online for suppliers that will. I've not had much experience with flowers myself & if I was going to make a wedding cake I would probably order the flowers.
Sorry I'm not sure about the lace, it's probably some sort of mold. Maybe you could find one online that looks similar.
the lace could be make with a mold and fondant--this looks very similar but it appears to be a bit narrower scallop--the lace in the picture appears to have a one inch scallop, and the one in this mold is just under an inch

the flowers are gum paste flowers-- they are made petal by petal and each layer is allowed to dry a bit before adding the next layer-- edna de la cruz is an amazing decorator and teacher
best to you
