Hi Everyone,

My nephew asked me to make him a football cake for his birthday. Ok no problem but then he wants it to look like the superbowl trophy! Its a small party so only the football will be cake. We plan to make the base. What I am not sure on is the angle of the football and how to keep them cake from sliding off? If anyone has made a cake like this your thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks

i would carve a piece of foam for the bottom most and the top most part to round out the football--just picture the football where it could be cake and all copacetic with gravity then just add on the upper & lower pieces that shape it into the football--either end of it--

ok lemme say it this way--picture where you could place a cake board in the lower most part of the football--then beneath that is foam and whatever part above that that would not defy gravity--the far tip of the football and etc needs to be foam also --

so you are cheating the angle--the cake is level-- the foam fills it out into the football shape --

you could do this with rice krispie treat too

Great idea. I hadn't thought of that. Thank you.
