AI am supposed to make a baby bump cake for a shower and my friend doesn't like fondant and doesnt want any on her cake. The belly will be easy based on her picture she likes but is this even possible and will it still look good? The belly will be big rosettes but i dont know if its possible for the boob portion of the cake? Any suggestions? Anyone done this before?

AThis is where you say "happy to do it for you friend, but I'm possibly going to use fondant in places. Great thing about that is you can peel it on off and enjoy the cake like the fondant was never there. It won't tattle, promise. It won't pop up later on, drunk and incorrigible blabbering about your secret love affair. It will just go away quietly.":-D

haha AZ! I do the same, I scrape the delicious buttercream off the fondant and throw it away. However, I was actually looking at an All buttercream "baby bump" cake earlier before I read this trying to contemplate how they got the...ahem, boobs, so smooth using buttercream, what tools, or method etc.....

aha! and it came to me...Maybe try using the "viva" method? of course, I believe you have to use some sort of crusting buttercream. Still curious as to how to make it so smooth with a Meringue based buttercream......might go home and practice now because my curiosity is getting the best of me..!

viva or a smooth brand new super clean flat weave towel will also work to smooth buttercream
