AHi,

I'm really new to making cakes and only make them about 3 times a year for my girls/neice. Of course my daughter wants a Disney Frozen theme cake this year for her birthday. I seen a cool idea where they made rock candy/sucker receipe and poured it into pan and broke apart the pieces and stuck them on the cake. My question is that....since I only use buttercream based frosting, if I stick the rock candy/sucker pieces in the frosting won't they dissolve almost?? I had made some cute "hot chocolate mug" cupcakes last Christmas and the little candy cane handle that touched my frosting...by the next morning had basically dissolved into a sticky mess :( I'm wondering if the rock candy/sucker would be the same dissaster?? HELP! I have no idea what I"m doing here and if I have a dissaster of a cake the morning of the party, that will send me into labor...lol!

Just a hobby baker myself, so not sure if this will work or not.  What if you put down some melted white chocolate and then stuck the rock candy into that?  Sorta like snow piled up and it might add some extra support for the candy so it wouldn't fall over.  Like I said, not sure it would work, but it is something that popped into my mind when I read your post.

Frozen seems to be the Theme this year...I just did my grand daughters cake a few days ago, and I also wondered about the Rock candy,...then I bought rock candy sticks to insert into the cake and I didnt, forgot at the last minute and just put them in glasses on each side of the cake....

Either way she loved her cake!!! for her dress I used Blue candy sugar, looks like glitter....I will be watching this post though to learn!
