AI have been asked to make Barbie. I have never done a Barbie cake before. I'm going to use my Pampered Chef Batter Bowl. Does anyone have any tips or advice for a newbie on making a Barbie cake?? Thanx very much.

My first and only doll cake, I used the wonder mold and The doll was way to tall for it, so when I stuck her in it only came up to her thighs!!! luckily it was a Belle cake, so I was able to build up the sides of the dress with fondant swags....I would make sure that the cake it tall enough and if not put another round cake underneath to give it height.  Other than that they are pretty easy to make.

AThank you so much. I might go ahead and put a round cake under just to be safe.

AOne thing I can suggest is that if you plan on making a poofy dress to be sure that the cake underneath is carved down enough or you will have HUGE dress!

AIf you were to use a batter bowl, you would need to use a heating core of some type, depending on the size of the bowl.

AI love making doll cakes! Yes, i've always used the Wilton wonder mold and the cake was too short for a regular sized barbie doll. Another round or a base cake would be needed. Also wrap your barbie doll with saran wrap since it will have direct contact with the inside cake. I agree with the other poster, it's a fairly easy design to make and the design possibilities are endless! Here are a few of the ones i've made :)

Thanks! Pricing is a tricky subject here on CC. If you search for pricing here, there are a lot of useful threads regarding pricing to help you. Good luck!
