AThis is only my second stacked wedding cake, third wedding cake total and now I am having serious doubts about one of the elements of my planned cake. I really need some expert advice please!

I am making the wedding cake shown below and my origonal thought was to tort and fill the 2 inch cakes but now I'm not sure if the 12" round cake could Handle all of the weight sitting on top of it even with dowels inside of it. Honestly it didn't even occur to me until today!

I never discussed this with the bride and her and her mother have been very laid back people so far. I even got an invitation to attend the wedding, that's the type of people they are.

So, my questions are:

1) would it be safe to tort the 12 inch cake and fill with a stiff mouse filling?

2) if not should I just skip the filling and go ahead and send the cake that way without talking to the bride or her mom about it?

I'm having trouble getting a photo to post so here is a link to another one of my threads that has a photo of the cake.

Thanks in advance!!!!!

I always do a filling in all my cakes regardless of height of cakes and I have done quite a few of the 2" high cakes.  It will be expected since it is a wedding cake.  This should in no way effect the integrating of the cake as long as you have a good support system.  The cake itself will not be supporting the cakes above it, it is the support system (dowels) that will be supporting them.  Just make sure all the dowels are the same height and you have enough in each cake to fully support each tier above it.

What she said .  The cake doesn't support the weight, the dowels do. :-)

Take a deep breath, support your cake well, and go for it!
