Hi everyone!

Just the one cake this week...paintball for my son's 13th birthday. He actually turned 13 a month ago but we had a family graduation on the weekend we would have normally celebrated so we did a small family dinner on his actual birthday and now we are having the party. The guys are going to go play paintball in the morning and then we are having a pizza parlor lunch after. In our family the "big" birthdays are #1, #5, #10, #13 and for the girls #16 and the boys #18 and then everyone #21. So this is Jack's last "big" birthday till he's 18. I will post photos of the cake table tomorrow afternoon here.

This upcoming week brings a small wedding cake for a couple getting married on Thursday. "City Hall" wedding followed by a restaurant reception for 10. So you all will get to see that next week!

Hope to see lots of photos over the next couple of days here!

Three small cakes for one family with three birthday girls of differing generations.  When I asked the customer how many people would be at the party she said, "10"!  I wish i could get my camera to read purple as purple instead of blue...

I just LOVE coming in here on Saturday mornings and seeing the cakes!

The party is at 1pm PST so I'll post photos after the party!

Pastry: yup...I know what you mean...I really have to tweak the colors in photoshop to get the purple to look like purple and most of the time I have to settle for "sort of" instead of having it be truly the color of purple that it is. SIGH. But your cakes are simply lovely and I think I love the pink one most of all. Swiss dots are usually done very close together but I think next time I do them I'll do them like you did...I love the look!

Marian...your baby shower cake is so sweet! I love the little cuddled up baby on the blankie.

Cara! I wish I had done cupcakes for my son's Minecraft party. Doing a whole tiled cake was a pain!!! I'll never ever do that again. But your cupcakes look awesome!  Question for you...the "wallpaper" on the vintage cupcakes...is that edible transfer? These are very much my mom's style so I would love to copy that if I can.

Everyone have a great Saturday and I'll see you here later on!

AHi Cat, yes they were edible transfer sheets that I bought. It was my first time using them and was really please at how easy they went on! Cara

Yeah, and this was after the computer tweaking! The dots are nonpareils and are quite hard so I didn't want to put too many on and cause some kind of horrible dental emergency!

Cara: your cupcakes are adorable! I especially love the spa cupcakes with the ladies and the cucumbers on their eyes - does that really work by the way? I should try it :-)

Here is my cake for the week:

A cascade of purple gumpaste butterflies.

If you look closely you can see on the bottom tier where I've tried to photoshop out the big dent the hotel staff put in it when they moved it without following my instructions - apparently they nearly dropped the whole thing down some steps!  So annoyed that we forgot to take our camera with us when I set it up.

ALooks like it's been a good week for CCers. I just finished a cake for my brother who got an internship in Texas. We are Texans that now live in SC, so neat that he has this opportunity. The cake has it's flaws, but I'm pleased. Thanks to K8 for her Hershey's icing tips! Have a great weekend! -Tracy

My goodness, everyone showed up while we were having a party! YEA!

Lizzie, that cake is just lovely! We were all just talking about purple!

Morgan, what an adorable jungle cake! The monkey is just too cute!

Miss Meliss..I bet the cupcake cake was a HUGE hit!

Matty...love all of your cakes but the "sophia" cake is my favorite!

Cazza, a Poke Cake is one where you make the cake, poke a bunch of holes into it and then add in some sort of jello or pudding to the cake. It doesn't need a filling and they are SO good!

Texas, congrats to your brother...I bet he loved the cake! It is awesome!

Ok, so here is mine. It's devilishly hot here in NorCal so the cake actually started to melt and the front piece to start to fall off so I had to put it back on in a poorly Air conditioned restaurant but everyone loved it and our son was thrilled with it so all in all really a good day! My only complaint is the name placement but our son wanted it that way so..... LOL!

PS...I did NOT make those wonderful cookies in the background. We have a vendor we use in our party planning biz that does these wonderful pieces of edible art and she's incredible!

Also...in case you are curious...the paintball went off great. All of the guys came home with little welts that they proudly show off as badges of honor and none of them can wait to go back again! Perfect for the 13 year olds bash.

Here in the States it's Memorial Day weekend so I still have 2 more days off before I start the wedding cake! It's already baked and in the freezer so I only have to crumbcoat and decorate. Easy week.

See you then!

Cat

WOW, everyone made amazing cakes this week!

@Pastrybaglady I really love all your cakes, they're adorable :)

@cara1982 Love the vintage baby shower cupcakes, very clean and cute!

@mattyeatscakes Such a cute hello kitty cake, the leopard print is amazing. I'm also in love with the Starbucks cake!

This week I made a cake, some communion cookies and cake pops:

I used a styrofoam ball for the head and covered it in fondant. The fireman hat was made with gum paste, and so were the hands on the bottom tier.

White Chocolate Horse head for a topper.

GumpasteRose  practice cake. I have a wedding cake to do in Sept. that is covered in red roses, so I figured I'd stay inside today and practice. It's 96 degrees here in FL!
