Hello everyone; I'm a cake newbie and I figured this is the right place to look in my search for "cake knowledge".

The photo you I posted has a skull and a raven both of which I am not sure about (as far as what was used to make them). The main thing is I have a 2-3 wedding cake coming up next month for a class project (im in a baking program) and I'd like to know what this is and how to go about making it. (the raven , the flourishes(?), and the skull.

Any hints, tips, advice, or redirection, would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance.

I suppose it's modeling chocolate.  A very cool cake, indeed.

Start practicing modeling. They're hand made with MC like Linda suggests, or fondant, or a 50 50 GP/fondant mix. Google around for examples and just dive in.
