Hi all!

My sister called and asked if I could make a cake for my niece with whipped frosting. I have never done this before so I have a few questions. So here goes:

Can I color it? Looking for a little black and light pink.

Can I add fondant decos to the top? or will they sink?

Can I spell out "Happy birthday" on top of the cake in buttercream or will it sink or disintegrate or something scary as such?

Gonna use this recipe. If anyone knows a little about it, is there anything I should be careful with, like does it turn to glop if I mix too much or something....er not sure, but any advice is appreciated!

TIA

Amy experience decorating a cake with colored buttercream or fondant decos was that they bled onto the whipped cream...unless you are serving close to the time you are decorating, I think it would be a bit messy. You have to fridge a whipped cream cake so that would be a problem. As for taking color, any? I think pastels but black and pastels, may run together. Just a thought.
