AI have just made a stupid mistake with a cake I'm working on and could really do with some advice, tips and maybe even photos of ways I can cover the stupid board poking out from under my cake :( ..

oh i think we've all done it i sure have

 • i've even taken the cake off the quilted bottom board and trimmed the board that peaks out & replace it all
 • you can make a narrow strip of pink to go all the way around--i'd wanna skip over the white ribbon parts though
 • you could do a pearl border--i know it's a package but it's still a cake--i've seen it done -- and hey you already are using pearls--
 • you could stick some 'wrapping paper' sticking out from underneath--esp if it's just that one side-- tissue wrapping paper kinda wadded up like the package is sitting on the wrappings of the previous gift that just got unwrapped

ideas for you

Yes, either take it apart and trim the board or put on a border.  I think taking it apart is going to be the solution only because of the design you want.

I'm with Sassyzan  This is why borders were invented . . .

Not sure if the board in question is just sitting on the quilted board?  If so, you could put it on another surface and trim it off with an exacto knife, angle it so it cuts just past the edge of the cake.  Otherwise I have to agree with the border idea, good luck!

AIf I could see the whole thing I'd be able to offer an opinion. A border might not be a good thing depending on the design. I rarely put borders on anything myself so I can't tell.

That's what I'm thinking...without seeing the whole thing though.

AThank you all so much for your ideas.. I dont think the border idea will work as it would have to be really thick and would ruin the cake.. So I'm going to attempt to remove it off the main board and cut it, I just hope I dont mess it up more.. wish me luck!!

ACan you chill it real well first to prevent any dings and dents from messing with it?

I know you are frustrated but what about making a thin rope border  in pink, it will blend in better. IDK, HTH
