Anyone know how to make this petit gateau?

I have never tasted these but live too far from the place that makes them... They are apparently called strawberry mascarpone petit gateau whatever that means lol. It's not a French bakery either so I would love a little help. I'm wondering if the strawberry stuff is strawberry purée or compote, and what would the white layer be some type of mascarpone cream? Anyone have a recipe? How about the topping?

They look so delicious and would love to make them for my daughters 1st birthday! But no idea where to even start. Any tips would be great!

Thanks,

Sara

Petit gateau is just french for small cake. And that is not. That is more like an american trifle. The white part can be pastry cream based and the red part can be any fruit compote. And cake in between.

Try changing your search parameters to 'Dessert Verrines"  OR  "dessert Amuse bouchees"

There are literally gazillions of ideas out there

I would bet money that the thing in your picture is just vanilla pudding and jello.  And the topping even looks like some kind of rice krispy or nut mixture.

But as the above poster mentioned, that is considered a trifle and can really be anything.

Potted up in shot glasses, and small jars, glasses, and bowls, they are in vogue as a dessert for weddings and celebrations.

In general, search for parfaits in an Image search to get an idea of what you would like to attempt.

Shot glass desserts is also another search parameter.

Individual or mini trifles are the same type of assembly dessert.

And if you want mascarpone cream between the layers of what looks like jelly (but you could put whatever you want) 250 grams (1 cup) mascarpone and 1/2 cup cream whipped together is DELICIOUS.
