Need A Little Help With Formula1 Car
Decorating By joandwade Updated 6 May 2014 , 8:59pm by Mimimakescakes
AI've been asked to make a formula 1 car has anyone got any tips for me please? Is it best to use round cake or square what do you use for those stick things the wheels are attached to. Quiet new to making cakes learning as I go along :-) any help would be much appreciated thanks x
I'd use a rectangle cake to start off with and then cut it into the body of the car shape before covering.
Then for the wheels you could use a circle cutter to cut out wheels before covering them, or you could make the wheels completely out of sugarpaste.
For attaching the wheels, you could place them straight up against the body of the car and glue them or otherwise if you wanted that little piece showing, maybe a piece of spaghetti painted black.
Use a rectangle cake , oreos two put together with buttercream or ganache and covered with fondant make great wheels .
ANice idea about the tyres for the car mimimakescakes never done it that way before. Thanks girls x
AWhat about that spoiler bit on the back would that be made out of gum paste or could I do it out of fondant or modeling chocolate?
I'd make the back spoiler out of gumpaste and let it dry before adding, but make extra in case one breaks!
LOVE the oreo wheel idea!!!
I usually make spoilers out of fondant that has heaps of tylose in in and let dry for at least a couple of days. You can use spaghetti or toothpicks through any of the supports so they are a bit stronger.
I usually go on google and look for images in profile , top view and front and back views or if I am working from photos from the clients I ask for photos of these.
