I would love to hear what other decorators notice!

Cake is fondant covered with candy Clay and wafer paper embellishments. The reception party was superhero./comic book themed.

AI think the covering/icing looks really clean. I really like the flowers, the different elements are nice but they don't seem to blend well together.

I love the theme, I guess for me it's just missing some of that Wow factor, if that makes sense. The red on the third tier seems incomplete as well as the white claws.

But if the customer was happy what do I know ;)

AI don't really know what I'm looking at, to be honest. Picture is dark and I can't tell what the spiky things are.

AFrom what I can see, fondant work looks pretty good, but not perfect. Love the chevron on the bottom tier, nicely done! I agree the superman tier looks like it's missing the logo, and the ice shards are somewhat limp and lumpy. You might want to try isomalt next time, or just let them dry longer before attaching. The overall design is nice, but a bit busy for my personal taste. Can't see the paper wafer flowers well, but I would probably have either used a solid color or put them in less busy places. Overall a cool cake though. I bet they loved it!

Oh, I forgot about the rope!  Is that real rope?  I hope it's protected from the cake somehow!

AThanks everyone for your great opinions! It's a wedding cake for a comic book themed party. Everyone came dressed up as their favorite heroes and villains.

The elements on the cake are supposed to reflect the bride and groom, who dressed like SM and WW. This cake was made based on a sketch they presented me with; the Superman logo isn't rly his logo but the crest on his belt. For the roses I copied some cómic book pages the couple gave me onto wafer paper and then cut my petals from that. The red side is actually draped fondant and it's hard to see in the picture because it's angled off on the side. The flowers touch the seams of the fondant. Those ice shards are supposed to be the crystals (I know :/) from superman's fortress of solitude.

I only asked for opinions because I felt a bit insecure when I put the finishing touches on the cake, and when I dropped the cake off I wasn't able to see to couple for a reaction. This is pretty much exactly what they wanted, but some things look better on paper lol. Does this make sense? Anyway I stand by my work but I am curious to know what people outside my head think!

AI must say, I like it a lot better now that you've explained the components. So I am betting the couple loved it too because it certainly has all those elements.

It was very hard to see what the flowers were in the photo, but that's a cool idea with the comic book pages! Yes, the ice shards could have been sharper (pun intended?), and I didn't know superman had a cave or a belt, so now that looks better to me too.

IMO, the rope is the best! Very good gold effect! I also like the logo at the top with SM/WW together, but I'd have made it the focus of the top of the cake. Made it a bit larger with a smaller flower as an accent or no flower at the top.

I think it just didn't quite all mesh together, but there are some great elements and ideas!
