AA friend of mine who is an amazing baker/cake decorator just made us the most incredible cake.

It would've cost £100s and she won't let me give her any money for it.

So I'm going to buy her some cake stuff and make a big thank you parcel.

She's been baking for years so I imagine she's got everything she needs equipment wise so thought getting consumables was the best plan.

All I can really think of is some edible glitters.

Would love some ideas from cake pros as what would make a nice gift to you guys?

AIts hard to know what she has and doesn't have.. sometimes my friends do this for me and they will bring me big bags of bakers groceries. Flour, sugar (all kinds) chocolates chips and different chocolates, nuts, cupcake liners, etc. I could go on and on. When they do this, I am always appreciative, because it is stuff I will always use and it adds up fast.

APerhaps a gift card to her favorite cake supply store. Even if it is an online store they most likely offer the option of a gift certificate.

wrap up 'two extra hours on a friday' for her -- they are just about impossible to find though - lol

or maybe this is easier to locate:

• powdered food colors
• chocolate
• sugar--extra fine granulated
• ooh--some of that black cocoa powder from where you get it your country (king arthur here in the us) 
• butter
• vanilla beans, paste, extract

a friend once sent me cinnamon that originated from all different places in the world, china and russia and viet nam--that was way cool--

and another idea is lavender! ooh to me it is such a romantic exotic yet while common in a 1,000 ways it is rather uncommon in cooking--and it should be kept well sealed apart from any other spices--like kept in a glass jar or something other than a plastic bag -- 

a cool cookbook might be cool -- like a lavender cookbook ;)

know what else though? i like to use grand marnier in 'splashes' for my cakes--a splash is simple syrup + flavor and you brush it on the cake--if she uses liqueurs that might be an idea--maybe a long shot though--but in the us you can get teeny little sample bottles too-- this would be a cool gift for me--but might not be a good fit for you or her--but just another kind of outside the cake box type idea--

ok one more--kind of expanding on a previous idea--if she doesn't already have this going on--

for christmas one year i made the kids vanilla and vanilla sugar and if you got a cool decanter or a cool sugar jar you could get her going (if she doesn't already do this) and it could be a treasure for her for always--

i'm just brainstorming here for you so i realie this is maybe a leetle more than what you had in mind but it's a great idea as ideas go nonetheless--

making vanilla is basically putting vanilla beans into bourbon--could be presented to her at any time then just tell her to wait a few weeks before using--'making vanilla' is google-able -- it is easy peasy --

for vanilla sugar --the gift would be vanilla beans and a jar of sugar with a tight fitting lid--then tell her as she uses the caviar in the beans, place the spent beans in the sugar to flavor it and use it as needed--

or the bourbon, beans, a jar and some sugar and tell her to make her own--hahahaha

AA spa day or massage. It may seem like baking stuff is the thing but unless you know of something on her wish list, may be better to give something like you would anyone else.

Are you in the UK?  Just a thought because if you do get edible glitters - please avoid Ed Able Glitters - they're not edible.  I have just thrown all mine away!  A nice thing would be an Amazon voucher - you can get so much stuff on there for cakes from tools to colours to flavours.  However, what about a Red Letter Day gift?  That way it's not about cake but about the person.

My vote would be a gift certificate to an online cake supply store (if you go this route make sure they deliver to your area) or like someone else suggested you could go with flowers or a spa day!
