AHello,

I have been a asked to ice a cake at a local bakery as a "try out" interview. Can anyone give me tips? What should I expect? What should I bring? What should I wear?

Thanks for your help!

Wear whatever the cake decorators wear; or a chef's coat. If they use hair coverings and/or gloves, ask to use theirs before you start. I would bring a tool bag with offset spatulas, flower nails, etc. Make sure to smile and project an air of confidence. Good Luck!

Yay! What kind of cakes do they work with? Basic grocery store designs, or custom creations? Either way, I'd be excited too!

AThey are a well known bakery in my area. They do mostly custom wedding cakes :)
