I been at it again and so has my 3 year year old daughter! She is so determined to help and of course I cant have her mess up my cake so She made her own .......
I gave her 5 teaspoons spoons of batter and she added 2 teaspoons of water to a tupperware microwavable soup mug and made and easy bake style cake in two minutes in the microwave. while i was working on mine or course she raided my stash and went to town on hers....
I took pictures of mine and you guessed it so did she....
Now she wanted me to post them just like mine ...of course it not being my work I figured I show you here!! haha
ok so heres what we did tonight mine is a shorty coke can and hers is a buuterfly garden....

Oh what fun, She did an excellent job, love the use of color and swirls, any butterfly would be happy in that garden !!! The coke can is very cool too !!!

My granddaughters and nieces love to cook and bake with me too, and it is always lots of smiles and laughs when they do ! Every now and then a frown of frustration comes into play also but not to many or to often.

I hope she continues to enjoy baking and decorating.

That's the best sort of age to get them hooked. Over here a lot of sugarcraft contests have kid's sections and I couldn't produce the sort of work that some of them do

What a fun cake your daughter made! I agree, any butterfly would be happy to light there. She has quite an eye for color and detail! She obviously loves icing too! LOL

Your coke can turned out great too. I think it is wonderful that you were working together, and that you encourage her to bake and create! Janice

I have a picture similar to that from my 3-year-old.
I bet your daughter was ready to dig into all that frosting too.

I have always been an advocate of having kids in the kitchen and letting them get "hands on" with things.

Hooray for your daughter. Her cake is adorable and I bet she had the best time. What a great thing for you both to share and such wonderful memories will come from this. thumbs_up.gificon_lol.gificon_biggrin.gif

How sweet! Terrific job, both of you!
One of my two and half year old twin sons loves to bake and helps to make cakes by pouring the ingredients in the mixing bowl. Now every morning when he get up the first thing he says is "bake cake today Mommy?" icon_biggrin.gif

Well after viewing both cakes, several times, I have to say that I like your daughters cake the best.

She has a great eye for color and tends to be generous with her frosting. MMMmmmmmmm.... icon_biggrin.gif

Oh you must..absolutely MUST encourage that baby with her talent!

When you level your cakes, give her that part to decorate along with any extra icing you have. AND TAKE PLENTY of pictures!! If she enjoys doing them, maybe when she starts school, she can bring her very own back to school cupcakes. She will be the most popular girl in Kindergarden..lol

I have pictures of my son's cake and when he was 8 years old he was competing with gumpaste flowers!

He got that good that he was asked by ICES to come demo his TIGER LILY!

He is part Chinese and he was born in the year of the Tiger and he loved orange...lol

HE once asked me if there was any way that he could make polka dots on a fondant bow. I showed him how and he made a wonderful bow that I never photographed.

He got a kick out of competeting and getting first over me.

He was all set to become the next Nicolas Lodge, he wanted to be a chef....

Until the computer bug bit him hard.

Now, he's using his artistic talent to get a BA in Game Art and Design...

THanks everyone .....now she has a big head after reading the post to her shes going around telling everyone shes a better decorator!!
Its ok, I agree ....she ussally helps with easy stuff like cracking the eggs in a seperate bowl or flower placement.... but yesterday she was all over the place and I was like here make your own! Knowing that it would take her hours to make it perfect!

She would leave and come back then say OH I know I forgot to add this.... she picked the ladybugs off and ate them as they are her favorites so she couldnt resist but is WAY TO PROUD TO EAT THE CAKE! so I guess it will be in the fridge for a while..

One of my favorite memories as a kid was a birthday party I had. Instead of my mom ordering me a fancy cake. She made me and each of my friends a little cake. And there were loads of sprinkles and different colored frosting on the table. We each went to town. We all felt so special that day.
Now on my birthday, I take a a few small cakes into class and the students decorate them in groups. They have to plan out their design and draw a sketch. It is such a fun time.
We will all be able to say "I knew her when" once your daughter strikes it rich.

This is a fun topic!! Both of your cakes are so pretty!! That's a smart way to keep your baby busy while you work!

This past Easter I had my sister bring her kids up to Bossier so we could all decorate cookies. I have a 2 nieces (1-15 & 1-6) & 1 nephew (3 yrs old). Of course my kids helped too (15 yo daughter took course 1 with me so she can decorate too, 18 yo son does too, I taught him as I was learning). My sister even got into the fun. It was soooo funny watching my nephew decorate those cookies! He would squeeze some icing on the cookie then put the tip in his mouth & eat some icing!! We let him eat those cookie that he made. Yes, I got pics too. I'll always remember that! I'm planning on making little cakes for Thanksgiving & Christmas so we can do the same thing again! What memories!!
