Hello brilliant cake makers!  I was asked to do this cupcake cake.. and I think there will be not much to it-- rose petals on chocolate cupcakes.. here is my question:  The brooch and the belt.. those look real, right?  How would u guys do that?  And.. i find those thin cardboard cake boards to not look great and to be flimsy.  What would u guys put this on?

SO i guess I have two questions.. how would u tackle the accessories and what kind of cake board would you use?

That's so pretty, I just love those for some reason.  I agree with you that the silver thingies look like real metal.  or maybe someone was really good at making sugar ones!

But you could paint and shine up some fondant pearls and a brooch to get a similar look. There are so many wonderful molds available.

Yes the board looks like its undecorated and right out of the box.  For a cake that dressy a nicer board would be pleasant.  Good Luck.

AI think for the board, I'd cover the cardboard with some pretty wedding wrapping paper. Since the cupcakes will be in papers, you could just use the wrapping paper or you could cover it with clear contact paper to make a grease proof surface. Either that or fondant with a nice pattern rolled/stamped into it. Hearts or swirls or lace or something.

I think the bling in the photo looks real. Not sure what I'd do for that...

Great suggestions. I am thinking i'll do fondant on the board (maybe just around where the cupcakes end.. then pipe a border.. i.e. not fondant the whole thing bc that would be a huge waste of fondant... and then buy cheap rhinestones....... thanks all!!
