AI had a client want a rainbow dash cake ( http://catchmyparty.com/photos/1545502 ) so I had never done one but felt semi confident. I have tons of questions after the fact though. 1. How do you know how many that serves? I used a 12x3 pan and it had 6-1 inch layers. The head was not edible. 2. What was the best way to do the head? I initally did all crispie treat but it was super heavy and the cake sunk from the weight. So I redid it with a foam ball and crispie treat. 3. How do you make the wings? I tried gum paste/fondant mix but never hardened enough to hold shape then I did just straight gum paste and still overnight was soft and would not hold it's shape. Ended up doing crispie treat but they were hea[IMG][IMG][/IMG][/IMG]vy and clunky looking

AThere's a sculpted cake class on Etsy by Mike Mccarey that's really good.

AI would think the head would need to be cake also...then maybe have a supports in the body and have the head on a cake board...maybe you could cover the body in fondant and then the head separate, I think I would run a support through the head all the way through into the bottom cake board and cover while with the rainbow hair...not sure on how to calculate number of servings...with regard to the wings, maybe make them at least a week in advance and/or add tylose to your fondant...I know the feeling of wanting to so things different/better the second time around...there are many cakes I pray people will order again just so I can fix the mistakes I made the first time around

AThe first cake should have worked if you would have put a support under the rainbow dash. The one you did came out great.
