AOoooh, that will make an awesome cake! Ok, I'd make the balls on the edges with Styrofoam balls from craft store, covered with fondant, and carved cake for the center one. That really is just begging to be reproduced in cake!

AWelcome Kuvi what a cute idea for a cake!

Are you planning on making a 3D cake or just make a topper?

Perhaps the most doable idea in my opinion is to make a square cake with three layers, I would carve the top layer to look just like your picture with the tree lying on its back, use the cut out bits to add height to the three balls of leaves. I would maybe leave off the steps; it'll look cuter just as the tree.

You then fill between the layers, crumb coat and apply your coloured fondant. Then you can make the lion, the swing and the car in fondant and lay them in place.

Hope that helps,

Have fun!

AThxxxx . I also had an idea to use styrofoam but have a doubt that will it work. Do you think the branch of the tree bear up the weight of styrofoam ball with fondant. The branch will be just made up with fondant isn't it?

AI wouldn't recommend you try a 3D standing tree then.... you will need to plan some internal support which I suspect you haven't done before?

It won't matter what brand of fondant you use as your figures will by lying on their back with the 'semi 3D' suggestion, making them standing up for a standing 3D tree is tougher: you will need gum paste and a toothpick or they will 'slouch'
