AHi house,

Is there anyone who knows how to carve a *standing* talking drum cake?.

Any help is highly appreciated.

I didn't make this cake, but if this is the sort of cake you're talking about, it shouldn't be too bad.

The shape of the drum looks tapered in the middle so if you want to be accurate, you can (for example) stack two 8" layers and two 6" layers, with an 8" board under the 8" and set a 6" board on top of the 6". Use that as a guide to cut a perfectly tapered cake. Remove the top board when you're done (obviously, but just being clear). I'd ice that, throw the fondant on it, and put in supports. do the same thing to another cake but tip it upside down so the 6" is on the bottom. it will be an hourglass shape then. Add the top and bottom details. the strings on the side look like wire wrapped in thin fondant to give it some structure. If you do it that way, you could probably tuck each wire into the top and bottom bands, then put the middle piece on to secure it. Or you could also just roll thin snakes and attach them directly to the cake, but it wouldn't have that 3d string effect.

I've never done this, btw.... but if I got the order, that's how I'd do it.

And if this isn't what you were talking about, then I am going to feel super silly.
