AWell I've been wanting to work as a cake decorator. I kno a few piping techniques nd have worked with both buttercream and whipped icing. I've taken a few classes and also taught myself a few things. One of my biggest issues is icing the cake nd not pulling up any crumbs into the icing as well as not icing it to thick. I work in a frys bakery right now nd I've expressed my interest in cake decorating but my coworkers and manager won't even bother to show me or let me actually try and learn. I have however decorated hundreds of cupcakes with no problem. I'm just basically looking for a chance to advance my cake decorating skills nd being able to work

If you really want to progress you are going to have to be willing to do it in your own time, and partly at least at your own expense. If I was the owner of a business with employees and one of them said to me 'I want to learn on the job' I'd be saying no too. You can't expect to be paid to do something you aren't sure you can do, and if you aren't sure they have no way of being sure.

Look up Crumb Coat on youtube or on here. I've seen a few videos and there is definitely a trick to that. As far as your employers saying "no," it sometimes means they like where you are now or they don't think you'd be a good fit (at this time). Training someone takes a lot of time and effort (no matter what kind of job it is).
