I have gradually been expanding to offer cake pops and cupcakes in addition to my cakes. I'm a home baker as a part time business.
I was just asked to quote on 100 cupcakes for a cupcake tower with a small cake on top.
Would there be a discount given on this quantity of cupcakes versus a couple of dozen? Should I call local small bakeries and ask what they would charge for that amount?
Any advise would be appreciated!
Thank you!
ANo! It is a lot of work to make 100 cupcakes plus a small cake. I would charge the same.
It probably seems like it because you're the one having to make them, but 100 cc's is not a volume order. I've had customers who thought they should get some kind of discount for that amount, but that's not enough to justify it. That's only about 8 dozen. If 100 cc's was a volume order then a hundred serving cake would be, too.
I'm not trying to harp on the subject, just show some other ways to look at it and get a proper perspective.
Howsweet, you are exactly right. I didn't stop to think of it that way.
Thanks so much!
