Hey guys, I have a few questions on painting on fondant.

I need the colors to be opaque and vibrant, and I was told melted cocoa butter with pigment mixed in was the way to go. Unfortunately I don't have powdered colors and only have gel colors. I have heard many people say NO to this as it's not oil based, but some have said gel color should be fine. Has anyone actually used gel colors in cocoa butter successfully?

If that's not an option, is isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol okay to use/better than vodka to paint a cake that no one will eat?

Thanks a bunch

You'd have to give the gels a try to see if they will work.  You can mix the color with alcohol.
