Newbie! 2 Tier Giant Cupcake Cake
Decorating By sophiessweets19 Updated 20 Mar 2014 , 1:24am by sophiessweets19
AHello everyone, i will be making my nieces birthday cake this weekend and she wants a cupcake cake But in order for it to feed about 15 kids her mom suggest that I make a regular round cake and than make a giant cupcake cake to place on top of the round cake. I was going to make the round cake a 8" 3 layer cake, my question is will it be to high to stack the Giant cupcake on top? I'm scared it may wobble around on delivery. I do plan on putting dowels or milkshake straws into the round cake but i wasnt planning on putting one through both tiers. The bottome tier is going to be iced in Buttercream and i was going to add vertical fondant strips. The giant cupcake will be in cupcake mold made from melted candy melts.
Any tips or suggestions would be very helpful.
Thanks
Lol...no, look at all the giant tiered cakes out there, the sky is the limit if you're careful! ;) Make suer you have proper supports in the 8" to hold up the cupcake cake, and you'll be fine.

three 2" high layers? (two 2" high layers serves 24 by itself.) If it's 6" high, it should have a cake board in the middle at 3", doweled and served as two separate cakes (which slices will also fit on a plate). I'd plan on using a central dowel if transporting it any farther than out the front door.
