AI'm making some buttercream cupcakes for an upcoming birthday party. They want snowflake put on the top of the cupcake.

I thought of using Royal Icing but I'm afraid the snowflake will start to melt from sitting in the buttercream. I haven't worked a lot with chocolate, but I thought I could do the snowflakes in chocolate which would help it stand up longer in the buttercream.

Ideas, thoughts suggestions all welcome. Thanks in advance for your help!

AIt will soften, but I do not think it will melt and distort. I could be wrong though...if you are worried about it you could just use chocolate. Although if heat is going to be a factor you might have the same issue. (Not sure where you are, but here in Texas it's getting hot lol)

AYou could also do gumpaste. I wouldn't do royal. Unnecessarily fragile.

AI'm in IL near Chicago. So, Heat isn't necessarily a problem or us right now. LOL

I think I'll try some chocolate ones and see how they me out.

Thanks. Especially since this is a little girls birthday - I'm sure the snowflakes will be a big hit the first thing eaten.
