ASo I'm new to CakeCentral and I thank you for any responses. I am a CFO permit holder from Los Angeles. That being said I was wondering if I could open up a design studio for consultations and have a counter with cupcakes and other CFO approved foods for sale. My mother in law and myself would be operating it. So that should cover the direct sales. Nothing would be created at the location. Pretty much the location would provide a visual presentation of cake designs and the foods sold would be provided with the appropriate labels. The reason for wanting to sell cupcakes would be to offer tastings without having the potential customer feel obligated to place an order.

I think you're going to have to consult the county.My guess is that the rules for a "commissary kitchen" will trump the CFO licensing, because the law was not created with the intention of creating a low cost commissary kitchen. 

There are also additional laws regarding how to offer samples. 

However, how will you pay your rent when you're only allowed to have gross earnings of $30,000/year, with a top gross of $50,000 in three years?

AThank you for your response. It would not be a commissary kitchen. It would be a rented office space with cake dummies, photo enlargements of my work and I would meet my clients for consultations. I was just wondering if I could sell ready made cupcakes. To offset the cost.

As far as the cost of maintaining the studio, I also work full time. But recently I have been receiving about 2 cake orders per week. And I thought it would be nice to have a showroom.

in this case, a commissary kitchen is one where you prepare foods to be used/sold in another location.
