Royal Icing Mix

I just got an ad via email and was wondering if anyone has tried this product.  It was from Sweet Wise and they have a royal icing mix that you just add water to.  Was curious as to whether anyone has tried this product or one similar to it and how they liked it.  (I've posted it here because I use royal more for cookies than cakes,)

I've tried the Wilton royal icing mix and I really didn't like it. Not sure about the sweet wise one but I rather make royal icing from scratch.

I know what you mean.  I prefer to make it from scratch myself, but was just curious about whether or not these mixes were any good if needed as a shortcut.

Over here we have royal icing icing sugar, which is a similar product, made by Silver Spoon.  I like using it for piping etc as it is easy to just make up a tiny amount.  I haven't noticed any issue with the flavour or consistency.

And as it's made with dried pasteurised egg whites, it's safe for pregnant women to eat, too, rather than having used fresh egg whites.

I use the silver spoon RI and think it is brillient but i only use it when i need small amounts for doing a few cup cakes or as glue for pastillage. if you need more than a cup of icing it is not very cost effective.
