I've tried researching online but to no avail. I live in the UK but I guess it doesn't really matter where you live to answer this question!

I am making a 4 tier wedding cake for a friends sister and future brother in law and they've asked if I will also deliver and set up the cake at their venue. The problem is their venue is 65 miles away and depending on traffic could take me anywhere between 1 hour 35 minutes to 2 and a half hours to get there.

They've asked if I'd deliver / set cake up and how much this would be.

I have no idea!

Obviously I have to take into account the cost of fuel which is about £12 one way so would potentially be £24 (US$40) and then cost of my time to set up etc.

Any ideas greatly received!

AI Price it at £1 a mile return trip so that's £130, that covers fuel, time setting up and time driving, wear on the car......

I would charge between 100-200 dollars. Depending on the job..

I would charge $169. The round trip is 130 miles and I charge $1.30 per mile. As I explained in an email to a customer this week: "I understand that it seems like a lot of money but please keep in mind that not only does the delivery fee cover the cost of gas and at least two hours of my time, you are also purchasing my expertise in the transport of large cakes of complicated and delicate design and my personal guarantee of a cake delivered in perfect condition for your wedding."

I don't ever call delivery "set-up". When someone purchases an expensive cake, assembly should be included in the price.

AI agree, setting it up is part of the job. I can't imagine offering the choice of DIY set up, and expect anything other than a complete disaster.
