Good morning!  I am making a cake for my MIL's birthday today and she wants yellow cake with raspberry mousse filling and chocolate icing.  I was thinking of ways to make it over the top and nice looking, and thought about putting some raspberry filling (not the mousse filling) on the top outside of the cake, like in the center after piping on the border.  Any thoughts on this?  Think it would be too sweet in addition to the icing or just over- the-top good?  It looks pretty in my mind, but wanted to see what others thought. I have some fresh raspberries I plan to "pile" in the center on top of the filling and may be a few chocolate chips.  Thanks for any tips or thoughts!  :)  Have a happy weekend!

AI think the combo would taste awesome and the cake that way would look very pretty. If it were me, I would make not "filling" on top but a Raspberry Mirror Glaze, so it looks super shiny, like the top of a cheesecake ;)

Good luck!
