AHey everyone, I'm pretty much new here in the groups. Now, I have a question. How far advanced can one do a cake. Just a simple buttercream cake with buttercream filling and covered in fondant?

I find It will depend on many things, such as your basic cake recipe, weather/humidity and the type of decoration you intend to put on it as well as how you intend to store it.

I often use a pound cake recipe for my cakes and stick to make it 2 days before delivery. On some occasions, for example if I have a large tiered cake, I will do it 3 days in advance.

When I first started, I made a square cake, cut into four and decorated each with fondant - then fed one to my family four days in a row to see which they thought was nicest -all were fine and 2 of my sons (26 and 27) preferred it on the 5th day.

Good luck with your CAKE MAKING
