Help!  I've been using Guittard Melting Wafers in ganache (and out of the bag!), but they are rather pricey ($5.00 for 1#, $22.00 for 5# and $100.00 for 25#).

I have found a wholesaler out of state that sells their own brand of melting wafers which is comparable to Merckens at a MUCH better price (even with shipping) than what I'm currently paying, but I have not tried nor do any of my local suppliers sell this brand.

I would like your opinions please.

Thanks,

Martie

I like Mercken's.  I used the dark chocolate at Christmas for some cookies and it was really good.  I'd see if you can get a sample before you get a whole bunch.  Is there a store that sells candy near you?  I got a small bag from a local bakery that sells candy making supplies.

I haven't seen the brand at either cake supply nor at HL or Michael's so I really don't know where I'd look.

Thanks for your response though.

No, you wouldn't find it in craft stores as it's more of a specialty.  You can definitely find it online if you wanted to try it first.  I've seen it on Amazon and I think Global Sugar Art sells it too.
