AHow would you make a chef hat? to go on a head cake, which is 6inch round. I have been thinking that it would need to be solid, as it wouldn't dry the shape I want it if not. Unless anyone can give me ideas to make it with out it being Solid?

AFondue is melted cheese served in a communal pot.

Your chef hat should probably be made of fondant. Or gumpaste. ;)

Wrap a cylinder in parchment or waxed paper. Roll out the fondant thinly, cut to height of the hat, and wrap it around the cylinder. Let it dry, then slide it off the tube and pull the paper out. Formthe top...that will be the tricky part. You could drape a shape over some crumpled up waxed paper to make the poufy part of the hat. Or make the pleated kind of hat. That has more structure and might be easier to do.

Lol... I was talking to a wedding coordinator the other day and she asked me if the cake was going to be fondue! lol.. with an "is that the hard icing?"

I think I'd do a RCT center and use tylose in the fondant if you don't use gumpaste to help it hold the shape more firmly.

AThank you, can you just add gumpaste to the ready to roll fondant you buy from shops? As I did attempt to make the fondant my self last time I made a cake and it turned out horrible wrong. Also if I made the chef hat in 2 parts then let them harden, what would you use to stick them together? I only ask as I made a minion cake before and couldn't stick the arms to the side, so as it was just me and my husband eating it I used cocktail sticks to hold in place and remembered to remove them before cutting it up.:) but I don't think cocktail sticks will work for sticking the hat together lol, I have tried using the edible glue before but it wasn't strong enough to hold what I wanted it to.
