This is a beautiful cake by Couture cakes and cupcakes, I am trying to recreate the ruffles. When decorating should I put fondant under neath or just buttercream? Will the ruffles stick to the buttercream? Thanks
What a lovely cake!
I have changed what I do with regards to ruffles. I used to totally cover the cake with a thin layer of fondant, but recently I feel it is rather a waste as it is just going to get covered up, and have been sticking the ruffles straight to the ganache. I see no difference to the finished look. The only thing is to make sure the top is even and meets without a gap, but that is straightforward enough to do.
I put a layer of fondant on first...I'm too scared to put right onto buttercream! I hope it works for you because it would be so much easier!
