AI found a really handy FREE app last night (and I am in no way connected to it I must emphasise!) it’s called ‘time recording’, you literally ‘check in’ when you start baking and ‘check out’ after all the tidying is finished and you pick up your cold mug of coffee and sit down to look for all the TV shows you’ve missed…

If you struggle with pricing try this on a few cakes, then divide your profit by the number of hours you spent on that cake and you might be surprised at what ‘wage’ you actually earned!

Once you get a feel for just how long it takes to bake, decorate, tidy, facebook photos, advertise, email replies to enquiries… you’ll know either: a – How much you should be charging or; b – How many hours you’re willing to spend on a cake for the money people are willing to pay you for it.

Hope it helps.

Gray :-)

AThank you!! I really need to do this. I am always doing a million things at once and losing track of when I started and finished. Good idea to use an app. I am usually watching Netflix pr YouTube vids while I work, so I have my ipad in the kitchen anyway!

I also have absolutely no concept of time. I underestimate how long it takes me to do everything, lol. Thanks for the tip. I'm actually trying it out today. I'm sure I'm going to be in for a surprise. :)
