Covering Ice cream cones in fondant??

Hi all! This is my first time posting here! I am making a Rupunzel tower for my daughters 6th bithday next week. I have decided on using 2 ice cream cups as the tower part. My only problem is, I want to cover them in fondant. Will this make the cones go soggy and collapse?? I was going to put a thin coating of buttercream under the fondant to help it stick.

Any help would be appreciated!!

Thanks all! C

Hello. I've cover cones before and was a little worried about it too. I decided to use very thin fondant and edible glue. I found that the pattern from the cone came through, giving a template to make them even prettier with dust or piping. I wouldn't use buttercream xx

Thanks for your reply. I usually use a little tylose mixed in water to make my 'glue'. Do you think this would work ok?

Yes. If you add clear alcohol to your glue it lasts longer xx
