Hello all, Im filling one of my cake tiers with strawberry preserve filling... How many jars of preserves will i need for a 10in square cake tier. the jars are 18oz.

also i have never used a filling from a jar before.. but i need it to be no parishable... someone said that i needed to mix in some instant gelaton flavored or unflavored to the preserved is this true

this cake will not be refridgerated and anytime it will be sitting out for over 24 hours before it gets served.....

If someone has a recipe for strawberry filling that is non-parishable that would work really well for me i prefer not to use filling from a jar

thanks

You do not need to add anything to the preserve if it is from a jar, the sugar it contains is a natural preservative, so it doesn't need refrigeration.

If you are making your own preserve, the same holds true if you add sufficient amounts of sugar.  I bet you can Google strawberry preserve recipes to find one.

I would say 2 jars of 18 oz would be sufficient for filling.

Sounds delicious!
