I made this cake topper to surprise my husband for our anniversary. It will be a game of thrones cake. My question is-does this look like a wolf (direwolf). This is my first attempt at sculpting an animal, besides simple turtles! I want to make sure he knows what it is right away. Thanks!
ADid you sculpt it or model it? Look at pics of dogs and how they look lying down. Their back legs aren't stretched out forward like that.
Otherwise I think it looks good.
I love GOT. The Dothraki are my favorites. It is known.
AThat was my biggest concern! I looked up images after I made it. I'm not sure why I did that backwards! Next attempt I will fix those back legs. I'm not sure if I can get them off this piece. It is made out of fondant and gumpaste. So I'm not sure if that is sculpting or modeling. Excuse my ignorance. :) And thanks for the feedback. I must admit I'm a Stark girl at heart.
You should be able to slice the legs off and add new legs. Use a sharp blade like an Exacto or paring knife. Google Image search the desired creature & make new legs accordingly. Score or rough up the area of the original wolf where you want to attach new legs, as well as the part that will be connecting on the legs, and moisten with water. Press them together well and work the new fondant into the old. Let rest in a way that doesn't put pressure on the new joint. You can also put a toothpick in the wolf's body that will extend into the new leg at the hip to act as a connector. You've done a great job for a first time effort; you should be able to make & attach new legs & have a fine looking mutant creature.....Good luck! And Go Team Stark!
AThank you so much! I just did so and am working on it now. Luckily they came off easily. I will post a new pic when finished. I need to practice a lot!

Here it is fixed. I'm happy with it. Painted the whole thing darker, not sure I like that, but overall I'm ok with it!
