AI have a "cupcake wars" competition at my school coming up and I'm weighing out my different options. (We have to use one or more of the following ingredients- blueberries, pecans, or peaches) I am making a white cake with blueberries inside. I would like to make some sort of brown sugar/butter pecan icing to go on top, but can't decide if I want the base to be plain buttercream or cream cheese. (Also- for my garnish, I'm having candied pecans, and a mini fried homemade doughnut with a blueberry compote glaze.) What do you think would taste the best/complement the flavors the best? Thank you in advance for feedback!

I think a taste test is in order first.

My preference would be to just do blueberries and cream cheese icing, as I am having trouble picturing the combination of blueberries with pecan.

Have fun!

I wish we had competitions like that when I was in school!
