AHas anybody used cake mixes that require water only? I bought 2 large boxes, followed directions, but the cake didn't rise much or have much of a taste. It was very dry. I don't want to throw these mixes out. Any suggestions on what I can add to them to get a moist, rich flavor and texture?

AYou could try using milk instead of water and/or adding sour cream to help with added moisture. Depending on the quantity a tablespoon or so of oil might work. I would only try one thing at a time though because you could end up with a gummy cake.

AI tried the milk. Didn't help. Didn't think to try sour cream.
