AHello there.. I'm in desperate need of help!! I recently moved in with my bf who has a gas stove/oven. I had an electric. I have a CC cookie recipe that is FANTASTIC!! We used it at a bakery I use to work at, at the bakery and at my apt the cookies always came out soft in about 12minutes. But now after 12 minutes the cookies were still light, and once they got to the right color they were crunchy. Does a gas stove change things like baking time? Temp needed? 300 is what I usually bake cookies on.... Thanks in advance

I have a gas oven and bake cookies at 350 anywhere from 10 - 14 minutes depending on thickness.

Yes gas and electric does cook differently.  Maybe others have, but I never adjusted the temp when I cooked with gas, just the time.  I miss my gas stove/oven.  I have an electric and I had to learn how to cook/bake on that b/c I've always had gas stoves, even as a kid growing up.  You will just have to play with the times to get the right time frame and note that on your recipe.  My first Christmas w/electric didn't go so well w/my cookies...lol

I have a gas oven (love it).  I don't adjust baking temperature.  But all ovens are different, gas or electric, you just need to figure out the best number of minutes in this new oven to get the result you want.

I would have taken the cookies out after the 12 minutes, let them cool and check them out.  Maybe 1 extra minute would work, or maybe the consistency was perfect at the 12 minutes.  You can't really tell by the colour of them.

Good Luck

AAt the 12 minute they were still pretty pale.. Didn't look good at all. So I think I'm going to try 325... 12 minutes. I'll be back with an update

AAs my science teacher husband explained to me, water is actually a byproduct of burning natural gas (or propane) so there is more humidity in the air when we use a gas oven than electric. This might be what is making the difference to your cookies.
