Mine is the same, except I usually go 1/2 shortening and 1/2 butter. I also add a tablespoon of meringue powder and a teaspoon of butter extract.

Here's my absolute favorite vanilla bc recipe...it's from Jessicakes (Jessica Harris)...

1 lb unsalted butter at room temp - whip for 10 min on high
1 - 7oz jar of marshmallow cream - whip until incorporated
1 lb powdered sugar - whip on high for 5 min
1/4 cup heavy whipping cream (add a tbsp at a time until right consistency) - whip on high for 5 minutes
3 Tbsp vanilla - whip until incorporated.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I don't whip for as long as she writes...I did the first few times though.

I add 1/2 tsp. salt, and reduce the vanilla to 2Tb +1 tsp because I use vanilla bean paste (Neilsen-Massey)...

(I've only ever made it w/ Land O'Lakes butter and Kraft brand MM cream)

Best recipe ever!
