hi, im brand new to all this - ive only ever been a hobby baker. i was recently asked to do a smash cake for a photographer (for anyone who doesnt know, a smash cake is given to little cherubs to smash up simply for some messy pictures to mark their birthday)

anyway, i made a cake and the photographer sort of advertised it by posting her pictures but people are now asking me for prices for it (eeekkkk)

im not sure how much its worth so looking for help. its a giant cupcake, an 8" vanilla and a 10" vanilla cake. *

typically buttercream tier cakes start at about $3 -$5 a serving and fondant cakes $4 to $6 a serving give or take--it depends on a lot of factors--

many many people ask this question so i have an extra bit of information for you--

what's really important is to price responsibly--there are people who make their living at this and when random newbies or even seasoned cakers price too low it borders on unethical and is very hurtful for the industry as a whole--and so with all due respect i encourage you to price responsibly or don't sell at all--

here's a chart to determine how many servings you got there

some peeps freak out when they do the math and see how much coin their creations can garner--so take a deep breath and please don't charge any less than the prevailing prices in your neighborhood

best wishes
