Am I on the right track?

Hi Everyone,

 

A friend of mine has asked me to make these flowers as cupcake toppers for her baby shower. They are lovely and originally designed by The Pastry Studio.

I have never really attempted gumpaste flowers and wanted to make sure I'm on the right track before I commit. I'm thinking these are made either with single rose petal cutters or the 5 petal PME cutter and then layered together (I'm leaning toward the 5 petal cutter). The center I'm okay with.

 

What do you all think?

Not sure but the result would be similar.  You could just save on time by using the 5 petal cutter.

 

Place some foil loosely over egg cartons and push down gently in each cavity to the depth of curve that you want, smoothing out as you push, for your petal formers.  That way they aren't as deep as the egg cavity itself, but will dry in a nice cup-ish shape.  Do two varying degrees of cup depth so one fits nicely over the other when you assemble them.  Attach with a little melted white chocolate or gum glue.
