I am in a pickle and cant seem to find the answer anywhere. I'm hoping somebody will know something about this. My problem is that i cant seem to find out if i need both liability insurance for my cottage food business (at my home) obviously. Where i will be baking up cookies, brownies, etc. And then will be selling my items that i baked plus my other crafts (handmade soaps, etc) that i already have insurance for. But do i need both insurance for my "bakery" at hoe, and then an additional liability insurance on top of that. Or would the farmers market insurance such as: FLIP (food liability insurance policy) cover both me selling my baked goods from my home, and also cover me when is sell at farmers markets? I just want to make sure i have the coverage i need. Whats your experience? Do you have both farmers market liabilty insurance aka some sort of travelers food vendor insurance, and insurance that covers you when you sell from home/ at a store front. Thanks for any information!

AIt would depend on your policy, you need to call your insurance agent and see if your insurance already covers you.

Call and check, but generally insurance just wants to add the location that you'll be doing business from to the policy. You won't necessarily need to pay more, but they just want to put the locations down. I work from home and have an office for consults, and both addresses are on my policy but I don't pay extra because of it.

I agree...make sure you are covered for things like if someone falls down your steps of your home, and things like that....you would be surprised what people sue under!
